Here you can see represented a very special area of this territory, the Sierra de A Capelada. From here you can appreciate the immensity of the ocean and admire the fortune of this land that seems to touch the sky. A wide variety of activities are concentrated in this place that energize the territory and shape its identity.
One of the most iconic images is a cattle grazing freely in the communal mountains of the mountains. Here livestock farming has great relevance, not only on an economic level, but on a social and environmental level. It represents a trade and a tradition that is reflected, in part, through the traditional Rapa das Bestas (shaving of the beasts) that is celebrated every year and brings together many amateur people. The cattle that live here fulfill an important function, since they keep the land on which they graze clean, promoting the care of the environment and the prevention of fires. This activity is a good example of management and sustainability, since it guarantees the well-being of these species and the quality of their products.
The Sierra de A Capelada is also a space where a variety of active tourism activities are carried out, very important for the local, economic and tourist development of the territory. In recent years these activities have acquired greater significance, thus emerging new local businesses. In this sense, in 2022 the Senda do Santo was inaugurated, the first via ferrata in Galicia that can be enjoyed in this incredible landscape.
Through the work of the artist Nove Noel, we can see the journey of two main characters who intersect in their story at some point in the Sierra de A Capelada. Two characters from two different worlds who come together on their path, in which they leave behind the ground, plants with unique power, traditions, spirituality and legends, revealing much more than a landscape.
